Sy ADRIAN POWELL Over of two-thir-ds of the the students at Cartoon College took advantage procedures used at the beginning of winter quarter and registered before the Christmas Holidays instead of waiting until they came back in January The most important advantages acWhy have Jucille to Jensen Miss registrar are the lessening of line-ucording big crowds and the general rush of registration Class cards are received earlier by the instructors and their preparations are more complete when school begins again Also the students have more time to arrange their classes and find it advantageous to be able to resits ter for the classes they want to take instead of the ones they can get Registration for the Spring Quarter will be upon us before we know it Students should plan now to register early ps at the On Being Seen Right Places By CLAUDE COWLEY Saturday night's performance of the Utah State Symphony Orchestra in the Geary Auditorium was the highlight of the cultural events of the year Many students were in attendance and combined with the many people in the community the concert was heard by some 400 people Yet the number of students in attendance was only a sprinkling of the enrollment at Carbon College We think students have an obligation to the school to attend such school functions and in this case there was no excuse The price of this concert cost nothing since students with activity cards were provided with free tickets The way to appreciate something one may dislike may well be to develop a taste for it by sampling the product It is good publicity for Carbon students to be seen in cultural surroundings and nothing is more helpful in gaining a good reputation than to appear at school functions of repute It is delightful to see that some or the students at Carbon appreciate the administration’s efforts to provide good and cultural entertainment Let’s hope that more students realize the need for such fine entertainment Class Attendant Pays The policy of some colleges throughout the United States allows a student to cut classes Using his own judgment the student may be absent without reasonable excuse Gass absence in recent years has led to relatively poor grades This is clearly shown in our own college by the decrease in number of students on the honor roll A student is not forced to attend class regularly but in almost all cases gradds are lowered for unexcused absences It is entirely on the shoulders of the student as to whether or not he should attend class A student who pays his tuition and fees wastes money by not attending classes regularly A far more tragic loss is the loss of knowledge Everyday a student learns something new and valuable that is lost in poor attendance Regaining this lost knowledge often requires many long hours of reading and writing College students should have enough good common sense to realize the mistakes they make students are those who attend classes Hie student may as they are scheduled In many cases an above-averafall far below his capability and thus decline in academic achievement is very often a direct result of poor class attendance better-than-avera- ge ge fine Watches - Diamonds - Jewelry Free Engraving on Purchases — AVAIUIIE — CREDIT TERMS Inc JEWELRY WOODY’S Helper Utah WELDERS OK RUBBER and SERVICE BEELINE Save on Your Gas Oil Services NEW and — Tire Needs USED — Price 175 South Carbon Ave An opportunity for foreign travel and language study will be offered to Carbon College student!
