Auditorium October 16: Bill Jameson was master of ceremonies at the “Homecoming" assembly in which the skits from the freshmen class Thespian Gub and Intercollegiate Knights won first second and third places respectively October 31: The Thespians presented a talent show at which Manuel Vigil and Don Medina were awarded a five dollar gift certificate for the best act November 14: AMS and AWS being thrown on the streets of the city President Jones spoke briefly asking that Mayor Mill’s plea be heeded December 19: The vocal music classes of Carbon presented the Christmas portion of “The Messiah” by George Frederick Handel in an assembly under the direction of Mrs Dorothy Brown January 26: A “pops” concert was presented by the Utah Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Maurice Abravancl This program was very well received by the audience here January 30: The Carbon Band presented a concert for students and faculty under the direction of Alvin Wardle February 24: Junior class presented the first competitive assembly of the year entitled “The Happenings in the Junior Specialty Shop” The script was written by Unda Harmon and Saundra Thomas March 6: The AWS presented an assembly featuring the 1958 Carbon delegates to the Utah Girl’s State Judy Winget the 1959 governor of Utah Girl's State was a special guest speaker March 17: “The Old Man and the Sea” a movie based on Ernest Hemingway's Pulitzer prize winning novel was shown for the student body at the Price Theatre April 8: The Thespians presented their competitive assembly consisting of a one act play “The Red Key” and a reading by Janice Jensen musical April 16: The Weber College Choir presented a program April 28: 300 girls representing the women's physical education department under the direction of Mrs Peggy Jameson gave a repertoire of the “History of Dance" May 4: The third competitive assembly entitled “Figaro's Toy Shop” was given by the Forensic Gub under the direction of Niel Warren The script
