in the history of Carbon stuCollege Mr Fail was elected 1959-60 dent body president for the 15 school year on Friday May Also elected were George Peacock son of Mr and Mrs Guy W Ware of Orangeville who will serve as vice president and Bonnie Pace daughter of Mr and Mrs will Carlyle Pace of Price who be secretary The trio was inaugurated at the annual awards assembly The inauguration came after a very lively campaign conducted by the Gold and Blue parties Members opposing the winners were candidate for Albert Evenich Wayne Hanna candipresident and Jolcne for secretary Bonacci candidate James tries workshop June 9 to July 1 at the University of Utah The Natural Resources Committee of the Utah Associated Chambers of Commerce provides 35 scholarships for the course These scholarships cover registration and tuition fees and transportation expenses on field trips according to Norman Clayton Natural Resources committee chairman In addition to nine classroom days the course will include eight days of field trips to such industries as copper lead zinc uranium iron steel oil gas steel fabricating salt fertilizer and building materials Although the course is intended primarily for teachers in natural sciences and social sciences any junior or senior high school teacher counselor or school administrator may apply to the U of U Extension Division for the scholarships Carrying five hours of university credit the course is designed to acquaint teachers with changes occurring in Utah’s economy and to show the role and economic reimportance of Utah's natural economic to the following winners were chosen and will be awarded cash prizes: class three first place Myma Rae Smith eleventh grade and Gall-lar- d place Donald Arthur twelfth grade Carl Olsen head of the art Workshop June 8 to 13 under the direction of R Neal Richards workshop for the This week-lon- g outstanding young journalists from high schools throughout Utah and surrounding areas is designed to
