Many will say that this hasn't happened with the branches of USU but it must be remembered that the athletic program of the Redskins is a little more intensified These points are not necessarily anyone’s opinion but rather ideas that should very definitely be considered and looked into before any type of action is taken whether for or against Throughout this year this column has championed or carried the torch for the intramural program Time and again it has complimented the work done It seems that complaints have been made In a larger publication these would come under irate letters but here they have been verbally and it is definitely the duty of this column to print them It seems that the problem is inadequate refereeing are either too prejudiced to do an accurate job or don’t The referees pay sufficient fouls to be com- attention to the game thereby allowing too many mitted No one person is accused and the names of the accusers will be withheld The point is however that there have been comments by various parties and any referee that hasn’t been doing a good job knows who he is and should straighten up Some may think this comment too weak and others out of place but the program is progressing let it move along without trouble The secret of the lonesome "end’’ of Army is finally out For months the football experts of the nation have been wondering how the end got his signals and finally coach Blaik revealed the secret — it was from the position of the quarterback's feet This was the first Pete Dawkins part The second came from the actions of The story of Cadet Dawkins goes that the first question asked by the Rhodes Scholarship committee was: "IIow does the lonely end get his signals?” Replied Dawkins "Gentlemen that is a military secret” They awarded him a two-yescholarship to Oxford an ar Congratulations must go to the college boxing and wrestling team First to the athletic department who succeeded in making one possible and second to the team members schools If "cool heads” prevail when this merger is accomplished with regulations to govern the relationships between the two schools I think that Carbon College would greatly benefit by a merger with Utah University JAMES A PETTY There are a number of advantages to be gained by the students of Carbon College if a connection with the University of Utah were to be effected The students at Carbon who desire to go further with their education have in the past or will in the future take classes at Carbon which the University will not accept however if the two schools were connected the classes offered at Carbon would also be offered at the University and the student would know that when he finally entered the University all of his classes and credits would be accepted The connections between the two schools would I believe be a boost toward the enrollment at Carbon The high school seniors would know that they could obtain a full schedule at Carbon and when they had completed their two years they would be ready academically to enter the Univerwell-thought-- sity There are many people from this area who arc presently enrolled in school at the College of Southern Utah and Snow College because of their connection with Utah State University The students feel they will have a better qualification for the major school by attending the junior college which is connected with that school For the betterment of Carbon College and the Individual student I should like to see a connection between Carbon College and the University of Utah Matmen Lose Match Meet Second Defeat hit a
