Think back What have you gained by cheating? A higher grade? If you didn’t honestly earn that grade does it make you feel good to receive it? Most of us have cheated including myself It is so easy to look on the other person’s paper to get an answer Stop now while you have the chance and start supplying your own answers I will guarantee that you will be glad to see that "A" or "B" or even the "C" on your report card—that you earned yourself Start building your character now while in school If you cheat now you will cheat all the rest of your life Maestro please: (Continued on Page Four) Now Hear This! By Laura Rhinehart Friends Carbonites and Countrymen lend me those batwings you laughingly call ears I come to praise Carbon College not to bury it I come to give you THE word There is a rising tendency among the students of Carbon to accept as irrevocable the decision to oust Carbon College This is my friends in the of the modem American "for the boids!" People venacular quaint who drift gullibly along with this pessimistic outlook have disregarded — as Governor Lee and his "economy clique" seemingly have — one vital matter: that in the ultimate analysis it will be the people of this state the voters who put the decisive period to this long drawn-o- ut windy controversy And that is exactly how Carbon’s case rests — with the people! As thrifty budgeters each of us knows that quantity can never replace quality in saving Shouldn't we then realize that the voters of this state know that Carbon College shouldn't be closed simply because it doesn't spew out a thousand-gradua- te crop each spring? When we buy a Jantzcn sweater and check the finer fabric of it we most certainly don't start kicking about the four cheesecloth togas our Jwelve dollars might have bought at a local rummage sale Are the voters of this state any less wise ? No sir you can all rest assured that as experienced shoppers our citizens are not going to buy any bill without first checking for dents and squeezing for air bubbles So there you have it friends in the proverbial nutshell With the voting public behind us we will have nothing to fear Let your worries rest upon broader wiser shoulders Carbon College will still be here when you end I are auditioning for the first string section in the harp choir Sunnie Studio EXPERTS AT GLAMOUR ted Proud Carbon Merlene Montsyo Tension Rises as First Negro Student Enrolls in High School" These were the headlines of the story of a Negro student taking the first step in breaking down America's Iron Curtain— the race barrier The story told of threats of violence and of white pupils if the Negro is admitted Stories of this sort race throughout our nation At Carbon we need not fear discrimination of race Never has Carbon advocated or encouraged racial intolerance Here at Carbon a person is judged by his merit rather than his color or race At Carbon there may be a minority wo think they are being discriminated against These few who blame their shortcomings difficulties and low social status on the school are probably prejudiced Usually these people will exchange their woes among others Little do they know that not only in school but throughout the greatest part of our working world it's not what you are but what you make By All-Wh- ite non-attenda- nce PHOTOGRAPHY Price Carbon Motel and Trailer Court 994 South Carbon Ave We’re Proud LAVRA RHINEHART of the Dinos!
