FOUR MEN LOSE THEIR LIVES IN PAYETTE RIVER attempted to shoot the rap ds in a boat wh ch was overturned throw ng the men into rag ing torrent A payette idaho special says A terrible tragedy occurred near gar den valley tuesday morning in which four men lost the r lives by drowning the dead john bedon john bowen john conley mcdonald the four men were a portion of a crew of log drivers who were running a big drive down the middle fork of the payette and had gotten their tim her into the north fork of the stream near garden valley the river gorges and a series of rapids occur when this point was reached the four men attempted to shoot the rapids a feat always accompanied with a great deal of danger when they lost control of the boat in which they were seated and the trail craft struck a rock and was overturned throwing the men ant the river which at the place named has a remarkable swift cur rent and the men were carried down stream and drowned
