stopped and “indicated" when he came upon a discarded gum wrapper Gaydos said he knew then hie and his partner were on the right track Later that evening when Laddie located the lost hikers a youngster in the party was chewing gum That example is just one of the times Gaydos said he learned to put his trust in Laddie even over his own gut feelings For the record Laddie wasn’t trained as a traditional police K-- 9 That despite the fact that later in his tour of duty he assisted in locating illegu drags and arresting suspected felons Laddie was so effective in that law enforcement arena that Gaydos leaned some drag dealers had Laddie on their hit list And sure enough Laddie was shot while in his kennel out in Gaydos' back yard He survived die attempted assassination although wounded in the fleshy part of a front leg Gaydos said he never did get to the bottom of the incident nor nab the perpetrator The message from that incident Gaydos said was Laddie was having an affect on bad guys Laddie was good out sniffing out drugs but he was meant fur other uses namely saving lives “Laddie was a tracker’’ Gaydos said explaining that he wanteda dog that could sniff out the trail of a
