| Show WILL RECLAIM IDAHO LAND canal to be bu it which will supply water for 75 acres seventy five thousand acres of arid land will be reclaimed and opened for settlement in idaho as the result of a deal which was consummated in salt lake city saturday last nhen ft hen the american tails kalls canal power corn coin pany finally concluded arrange ments for the completion of its canal in idaho the contract was awarded to lyman sheen of ogden tor for the con st ruction of the entire canal system tho the company s canal Is taken out 09 0 the snake river about twelve miles above the town ol 01 blackfoot in bing ding ham county and runs southwest fifty eight miles it terminates just below tha the american falls blaine county bere where it discharges its surplus water back into the snake river the country that will be traversed by the canal is considered one of the most fertile valleys along the river and for years has been an object of envy to agriculturists the canal will be eighty five feet wide at the top sixty feet wide at the bottom and capable of carrying six feet of water a river of itself it will have the ca opacity of irrigating 75 acres of land 57 acres of which have been set fet apart by the government of the united states and the state of idaho for the benefit of parties who will first purchase water rights of the company |
