iced by releasing president milton H welling and his counsellors coun peter M hansen and joseph jonson jensen and sus satning as is the new preal presidency dency peter AT hansen arthur R Cali caloner ciler and clarence E smith with john J shumway as clerk the change was made imperative because of the duties devolving upon president welling as congressman from the first congressional district and because president jensen has removed from the stake to idaho because of ct business reasons these men in n conjunction with president hansen had served as the presidency cf the hear bear river stake since its organization nine years ago last october when hen the box elder stake was div divided ded and a few wards ot of the malad stake were taken to form a new stake during the presidency of president welling the bear river stake has grown like a green bay tree the stake presidency made an ideal aou rum because the most perfect harmony existed at all times and all the members are progressive men full ot of the spirit of church work and having sympathies which encompassed all the people wider under their jurisdiction to such an extent that they were greatly beloved that the people were were loath to have such a pleasant condition disturbed and lie be compelled to part with two ot of their leaders was manifested on all sides at the conference last sunday in making a report of 0 tho the condition of the stake at the morning meeting pres hansen could hardly overcome the emotion which enveloped him when he spoke of the work of the stake presidency and of the regret that the quorum was as about to be disorganized that the people afat N w as evidenced by the profuse use of handkerchiefs and then when president welling gave expression to his feelings after having been released and his s successor uc cessor had been sustained he told the people that it was the happiest and yet the bitterest day of his life happy because of the generous manifestation of love and confidence which bad been shown him and bitter because of the severing of bonds of association which love had li hallowed allowed and made the most P precious brecious tangs in life the vast audience aup hung upon his every word nord and there was scarcely a dry eye in the calil congregation re gation it was a splendid testimonial chaigen as it was with the spirit of fellowship and goodwill and came as a benedict benediction fon at the end of a perfect day as Pres president dent welling so aptly expressed it in the elevation of first counselor peter M hansen to pe be the president of the stake the peoples guess was verified and the splendid spontaneity with which the hie raised their right hanlo i him was a s soul a stirring t i r ri n g of the love and c confidence fl d e n c e i in n which he is held by his people he is not a stranger to the work but has it perfectly in land hand and I 1 will carry it on in the sanie same splendid m manner a n ner it has been carried on I 1 in tile the pa past s t in caling calling bishop capener to stake presidency the garland ward was robbed of its bishop and so that ward was reorganized at the same time by appointing charles munns manns bishop oluff johnson Jo linson first counselor counsel cr lind and peter boss second counselor with richard T astle ward clerk bishop capener has served as bishop of the ward for a number of years yeara and Is a man who enjoys lie hie confidence conri dence of the people ile he Is at present one of the county commissioners of this dounty county clarence B 11 has been the stake superintendent of the Y L M 1 I A for a number of years and so lias has come in close touch with the people of the stake thru that organization lie he is also principal of the me junior high school at garland and Is a young man of sterling integrity and high ideals the new stake presidency Is composed ot of men like the former ormer presidency who have made a su success cess of their own affairs and they are also men who have a long record a of faithful service among the other changes made was ithe the elevation of former bishopp bishop P N pierce to be an alternate high coun conn ellman cilman tills this
