I did On Monday Aug 27 at about 4:30 pan I heard a terrible crash I looked out my front window Just as a Bronco crashed my porch She had hit a car at the intenecdon on 300 S 100 West lost control and jumped the cutb west of our house came through the fence and ontothe porch I had been on the porch just five minutes before watering Aepiants I couldn't get out dw front way and by the time I ran around the house all three young ladies were standing on the lawn apparently unhurt The ambulance came and did take one of them to dw hospital with minor head and neck injuries They asked her if she knew where she was dw said “Down by the Rec Center' and I said “This is the wreck center” I V VI'’- People started gathering cameras were clicking I am in a state of shocx — disbelief This is something you read about but don’t think it can ever happen to you I picked up Tuesday's HJ to see what they had to say about it On dw mot page was a man watering his lawn and complaining about pressure l wish that was all I had to moan about I don't have much left to water Everything in her pith was wiped out The insurance adjustor came and viewed dw mess He said shrubs bushes andjpianti wfoedoutinaapfitsecond I have before and after pictures that would have made a good front instead of tmtew out your hand for a free complimentary ticket for Greenhalgh thanks supporters the rodeo every might Put your hand out to help us do the work to set page story I am gratefrl to be alive and that no one else was hurt Tothe editar up dw fair We need good workers for all phases of the set up during could been worse I guess have seriously It ' and clean up I just want to thank the 3606 people who voted for meat theprimsry r Della ILMeacham Logan i Wdlsville i Compliments election for taking the time to study dw issues and for caring about quality skills and experience in government I also want to dunk my campaign committee for dw many hours their energy and commitment in supporting me and for the many other contributions of time and money that were given to help with roqufamtDtie and To my husband Brent our children Supports bus service To dw editor To dw editor t t I first briefly met Parley Bodrcro age 82 about two months ago as he was making his usual Monday night visit to my weekday Ixigan fand" cans and apartment complex (Twin Greeks) to collect the had a more of I pleasure meeting with newspapers Today conversation him andlwonld our of interpretation my with dw readers of ddsrioliunn: I do Hboe tUt l trill kit'te inviditta Ho his privacy by doingso like most ofusJPariey has had his share of dw proverbial ups and dotons including $100000 financial fiascos and during hit early years However Us current good health has apparently helped Urn to emerge from these setbacks as he travels throughout the city collecting aluminum cans and newspapers for cash which he uses to finance his medical bills and to support dw education of younger family members also as a beneficial ode effect his recycling work is our environment I would like to because there are few of his contemporaries who are not on Medicare andor Medicaid (There with the grace of God go L) Therefore I would urge Herald Journal readers who would prefer to help the environment without receiving financial recompense to act to pick up their sorted cans and quickly by calling Parley at newspapers in two weeks Parley says he will temporarily be moving Us receding operation to a more tolerable winter cMmate in Arizona If published this letter will come as a surprise to Parley and I hope it will be a pleasant one Our nation could use many more of his clones to Uke-toshar- o ill-hea-lth 753-84- 61 Ed Vended Ogden son-in-la- £ aS ' Beck-Dudl- one-quart- I'm confused' For years now UDOT has been telling us that they need to widen the Logan Canyon highway to make it safer But in a front page article on Sept 10 toe widened section of US 89 near Wdlsville is described by a Ughway patrolman as “the major problem area for the whole county’ It is further described as being “one of toe most dangerous situations you can have” s too bad tote UDOT’s engineers and administrators can’t see what toe UHP sees Do we ready need a Logan Canyon raceway? John Paul Reeves North Logan ' i Fair needs support To toe editor ' Ever since toe article came out in toe Logan Herald Journal in regard to toe Cache County Fair I have been trying to get my anger in control so I could write a nicer letter I tun sorry there are members on the Cache County Council who would choose to criticize Mr Parker in regards to toe fair budget I would bet that toere aren't members Of the council who even know what it takes to put on a bigger and better Cache County Fair How many of you who complained would take a week or two or longer off of your jobs to go down to toe fairgrounds and get dirty and sweaty and tired to make sure toe fair turns out toe very best tote it can be7 How many of those council members come to planning meetings throughout toe entire year to plan and plan and plan? How many of those council members know how many volunteer hours go into making the fair work? Do you council members take your vacation and help at the fair before during and after? Do you council members know that there are businesses in this valley like LW Miller Discount lire who donate toe cost of d trailers for die stage for free trophies as well as two entertainment? There are other businesses who donate feed straw seven other goods time talents Fairs are die culmination of toe harvest the ending of a good summer where the entire valley can enjoy a few days of entertainment on toe county what better way to get together city and county? People come from other counties to visit our fair It's for sure they won't come if we are too cheap to put on a good fair and rodeo I would challenge you council members Mr Monson and Mrs Skanchy to call me and I will be glad to put you on our list of volunteers for 1991 to take your vacation and help out at die fair flat-be- ey er To the editor To the editor w I have heard a bus system wid be voted on for Logan again and I’d love and appreciation for yov devotion aid caring your ' like to say haOefajal May I express why? liv— ff wil twnhwA hi Minting pwlHiMilhiin toe UTA and used Lake and Salt transportation and removing signs gofaty without meals and especially for loving City Having dvedm system consistently I know it can be a fintasdc service “The bus” supporting me in everything I do unabktodrivetnember of I assure aU of the peopteof CaciwjCknnydut this prhnary dflfjsnt ftefrigteUeje etiSeStomTIS 'shop Srodfat totf insures that I will continue to serve as sotting administrator tty? I dam to say no ready notice the now readae that this matter is a f nmnaaiity concern and residents And to the question of a bus system in Cache County I feel their property values are toreatened I do not know where these we say yes wholeheartedly suggest bcuefs originate or why toe community b use was never questioned at toe location until the effort (XIV outrage Allison B Nielson contain otgsaiize and designate a safe area to advocate forth to was put Hyrum Erickson offers thanks ‘Confused’ V-- ' Elo Dean Herzog As the winning candidate for Cache County clerk I would like to thank ad those who contributed to my success First — toanks to all my constituents It is a thrill to know so many outstanding voters in dw county and to know that they care about county government operation Second — thanks to those who helped with my campaign No candidate for office succeeds alone and I was fortunate to have hdp from some grate people Third — thanks to my family and particularly to my wife Kanren for hours of work and nmch needed support Fourth — dunks to all toe County Republican Committee and Young Republican Committee for their work in helping aU of toe candidates and dw party Fifth — thanks to all my friends and colleagues at work and toe other groups that gave me their encouragement and support ' I appreciate getting to know all of the candidates running for office this year They are exemplary people who are so willing to share their knowledge talents and abilities on behalf of county government I also appreciate getting acquainted with my outstanding opponent Lome Greenhalgh who ran a good race Finally I want to express thanks to dw city and dw communities in dw comity and especially to my hometown of Richmond I appreciate your support and I pledge to serve you in a fair and just manner Considering the subject of “missing toe point” I ponder why has not either letter published on Sept 6 responded to the facts that follow? The noise level has been accurately measured and the amount of distance separating the track from the nearest resident The dust will be contained as part of the development OHV use has occurred in that area for 20 years without reports of diminishing property values The “residential noise” cannot be heard over toe neighbor's lawn mower hi addition I'd like to point art the fact that toe proposed area is neighboring an active gravel pit which is included in that “residential" area that has no wateriines developed for housing Thia development is not projected for another 10 to 20 years I think the letter to the editor published in the Sept 13 issue entitled “Clarification” needs a little correction I agree that the mountain in the center of toe picture in the Outdoors section of toe Aug 31 issue is not Kings Peak but the shadowed peak in the background to the south is Kings Peak I think Mr G L Stephens does not know his geography as well as he should in the fact that if you stand on the peak Just above the plaque on the top you can see a great deal of toe Henry’s Fork basin and in addition to that as you hike up tt get a beautiftil view of the peak in the distance when you are about of toe way to dw upper lakes area I thought this should be made clear to someone who may want to see a view of Kings Peak without having to climb all toe way oyer Gunsight Pass as Mr Stephens suggested the trade will increase these Incidents I Invite him to observe the land near the higher power plant These trails are starting to grow back after ' the track has been built Don Hudson intends to create a membership that organizes the erratic existing OHV use while encouraging honorable conduct The memben will not tolerate destructive actions that would degrade toe image of OHV operators What person would violate a pasture when toere is a specifically designed area designated for hisher recreation? Perhaps toil will cure Gilgen’s fencing distress in the same way it has allowed trails to recultivate near the power plant I'd like to inform dw Dudleys drat they moved to North Logan during the 20 years OHV use has been popular in Green Canyon Now that someone wants to organize and support that use it immediately becomes the ultimate threat to North Logan The conditional use permit issued to Sunrise Entertainment has a revision clause included After the development and the first of toe two planned annual events is held the permit will be publicly revised I view no reason for the opposition to purge dw permit when it is opened for their critique after one event has been held Do they feel the opportunity must be destroyed before an official event illustrates no threat to the community? Thank you for your letter Ellen Parker It is an unparalleled example of the stereotyping OHV operators are victimized by If you had attended toe meetings with a “professional” open mind your questions may have been answered Your attitude is vivid in your letter and illustrated your deepest dislike of OHV enthusiasts Who is bullying the issues7 1 don't have to own land near dw track to know that OHV use has occurred there for 20 yean No public outrage against dw situation evolved until there was a proposal to improve dw land for that purpose The meeting is tonight in die District Court at 7:30 pjn I hope at dw meeting our elected representatives steer clear of the bullying lobbyists and pursue toe truth when considering toe arbitrary change from dw conditional use permit I hope they decide to let Cache Valley's OHV operators’ own behavior determine their fate with regard to an event being held at Green Canyon DoralPerkes Logan Kip Martin North Logan i i Stephen M Erickson Cache County clerk-elect Further clarification To toe editor two-thir- ds |
