Ty served as the Mayor of Minersville for 12 years, as a past president of the Rocky Ford Irrigation Co. and Minersville Dairy Association. He was the first inductee into the Hall of Fame on the SUU Campus. Member of the LDS Church and served in many positions including the ward Bishopric. He was a dairyman most of his life. He is survived by his wife Bernice of Minersville, Son, Wayne & Merle Gillins of Minersville and a daughter, Susan & Michael Black of Beaver.
