Teach your children to question what they hear in the news or on television or even from the kid next door. Teach them that there are people who will say just about anything to get their attention or to get them to buy a product or to get ‘them to tune into their show. Teach them to question the source of the news story. Did the reporter name the people making the claim? Were those people paid by the reporter? Did other reporters pick up the story? (If a tabloid claims that a two-heauied baby was found inside a coconut bearing papers that proved its father was Prince Charles of England, one _ should wonder why Tom Brokaw didn't at least mention it on the NBC Nightly News.) And teach them to wondler at the NBC. Nightly News stories the same way they might question easicr- to-spot tabloid television shows.
