W HERRING Sanpete County Agricultural Agent Due to the rapidly expanding dairy dalry Industry in Sanpete County County Coun COWl ty and the lowered sugar beet acreage there arose a need inthe inthe in inthe the county for a good forage crop CORN seems to be the crop that will fill the bill bUl and with all the Interest in corn it was felt that we needed all the information possible information possible on the many different aspects of this crop The county agent working in cooperation with Utah State University University University Uni Uni- set up corn variety test plots on the farm of Dean Anderson of Axtell Several different different dif dif- ferent varieties of silage and grain corn were planted last May and harvested Sept 21 All varieties were harvested separately and weighed and samples were collected and sent to Utah State University where they were checked for dry matter matter matter mat mat- ter quality and anything else which was of a comparable na na- na ture All data from these corn variety trials will be presented at a special corn school on Thursday January at p. p pm p.m. m. m at atthe the Gunnison Valley High School auditorium Anyone Interested In this data is invited to attend |
