B and Caroline Hansen Cox He attended Fairview schools school North Sanpete High School and later laler Snow Culle College where he was student lx body budy presIdent president pres pres- ident and was first editor of the school newspaper The Snow Snow- drift He Ht left high school In 1917 to enlist in the Field Artillery Artillery Ar Ar- tillery Utah National Guard as It was being federalized for duty duly In World War I. I He later laler served in France with the Seventh Seventh Seventh Sev Sev- Infantry Division lon He is 15 Immediate past president of the Field Artillery As Association As- As composed of men wh who J served with that unit in World War I. I Mr Cox was editor and publIsher publisher publisher pub pub- lisher of the EphraIm Enterprise Enterprise Enterprise Enter Enter- prise from 1924 through November November November No No- vember of 1960 He won many state and national awards for his editorials He remained affiliated affiliated ted with the newspaper until 1971 He also served for many years as correspondent to daily dally papers In the state He worked with his son R R. R LaVaun Cox In the operation of at The Manti Messenger for a number of years Prominent in Church ac activities ac- ac he served year 2 a year 3 mission In Hawaii from 1920 to 1923 and was called to serve J. I t tF F ROSCOE CLEON COX as president nt of that mission fr from m 1939 to 1942 heading th at the time of Pearl Perl Harbor I 1 e served as counselor to two bishops ops and was was- bishop of the I Ephraim North Ward for five yellS veils veil's and ami had filled many ut other her positions in the church At the time of his death he was a member er o of the Sanpete South Stake high council Mr Mi Cox was a member of the Ephraim City Council for four years and was prominent in community affairs being In great demand as a public speaker speak speak- er tr throughout the area He married d Armada Bailey in the Manti Temple on August 13 13 1924 Survivors include his widow EphraIm two sons sons and a daughter daugh daugh- ter R. R LaVaun and Wesley E E. E Centerville and Audrey C C. C Perkins Perkins Per Per- kins Salt SaIl Lake City 11 grandchildren grandchildren grand grand- cl children three B B.
