J F F. F McCafferty The band will consist of 18 members They met Monday evening and organIzed organized organized organ organ- as follows President Norma Christensen vice president president president dent Ida Peter Petersen sen secretary and t treasurer Florence Lindhardt Lindhardt Lind- Lind hardt clarinets Norma Christensen Christensen Christensen Chris Chris- Lind Olson Maud Nielsen Nielsen Nielsen Niel Niel- sen Deldee Anderson altos Sondrup Edith Thorpe baritone Thelma Christensen trombones Ora Olson Joyce Greaves La LaVerne Verne Peterson tuba Audrey Bailey saxophone Alta McCafferty snare drum Ruth Anderson bass drum Mr McCafferty outstanding Ephraim business man not only acted as business manager for forthe forthe forthe the band but also assisted with the purchase of Instruments uniforms etc and gave other financial assistance New members were added to the band constantly to improve instrumentation or to replace original members who married or moved away An entirely new group of 40 members was organized In 1918 to furnish replacements The band played for lor dances charity balls patriotic and political po political political po- po at the depot for departing and returning service men and gave weekly concerts on the balcony of the theold theold theold old City City- Hall during summer months They also went to other cities throughout the state for Blackhawk Blackhawk Blackhawk Black- Black hawk encampments county fairs the Utah State Fair in October 1917 the Dixie Fruit Festival In St. St George In October October October Octo Octo- ber 1918 etc One of the most outstanding trips was in September September September Sep Sep- 1916 when they made madea a tour of conquest to Spanish Fork Ogden and Salt Lake City tt They spent Sept 7 8 and Sand 9 at the annual Harvest Festival and Fashion Show in Ogden and the Ogden Standard gave more than two columns of space In detailing the performances and singing the praises of the Ephraim girls who were accompanied accompanied panted by Mrs D.
