W Knox Fitzpatrick a Salt Lake surgeon and member member member mem mem- ber of the Board of Directors The clinic will be conducted in the Ephraim Junior High School South Main Registration Registration Regi Regi- egl- egl will be from to 10 am a.m. to 3 pm p.m. All women throughout the county are Invited to attend the clinic where they will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire questionnaire questionnaire ques ques- and be shown cancer educational materials Breast and uterine examinations examinations examinations examina examina- including the Pap smear test will be provided Emphasis is being placed on these two types of cancer because they are the most common malignancies malignancies malig maUg- to strike Utah women Laboratory tests on the Pap smears will be completed several weeks after the clinic and will wll b be turned over to local physicians physicians' Women who require any as a result of the examinations or the Pap tests will be referred to their family family family fam fam- ily doctors In Pre previous clinics around the s state t thousands of women have received free free checkups and in some instances a previously previously previously pre pre- unsuspected d malignancy was found a discovery that may have saved the lives of the women Involved The earlier cancer is found th the the chances for a complete cure This is the reason reason reason rea rea- son are urged to have a 1 yearly physical checkup so so that malignancy might be found before be before before be- be fore it has a chance to spread One of every four persons Is expected to be stricken with cancer in his lifetime However with modern treatment treatment treatment treat treat- ment methods and early detection detection detec detec- tion of the disease chances for for a cure are good There are arean an i estimated 15 million cured cancer cancer patients alive in the ps US U.S. today i In rural areas of the state where there are few doctors It is Is' difficult for many people to obtain annual checkups This Is the reason that the Cancer Society has been holding free clinics in sparsely populated areas of the state Equipment and volunteers for forthe the clinics are provided through the Virginia Whitney Memorial Project of the Cancer Society Dr Adolph M.
