Show V ST STAhLE V By LARRY STAHLE The story is told of a drill sergeant who barked a command command command com com- mand All right you dummies dummies dummies dum dum- mies fall out outi With much confusion and clatter everyman every everyman man In the company except one fell out and scattered The sergeant glared at the remaining recruit and said Well The rookie smiled and replied There sure were a lot of them weren't there Sarge It seems that we are in the midst of something about every week This week is no tion There is a bill in the state legislature which will require all cities in the state to add fluorine to their water supply This bill bUl has raised quite a abit abit abit bit of fuss around the state stat both pro and con There are a number of things which I cant can't understand about the whole thing When our kids were small the dentists told us that they should have a tiny white tablet which they called by the name of fluoride If this is what It would take to Improve their teeth I was all in favor Then I was told that I would have to have a prescription be before before before be- be fore I could get them Wow I thought they must really be good And the price will probably probably probably ably will floor you too When I arrived at the pharmacy pharmacy pharmacy phar phar- macy I was astounded all right the little nuggets were for a thousand What a buy The thing that bothers me Is IsIf Isif isif If this chemical can only be besold besold besold sold via prescription why are they suddenly wanting to dump dumpit it into everybody's drinking wa water ter an and without a prescription It seems that if certain people people people peo peo- need to have a daily dosage dosage dosage dos dos- age the cost wouldn't break anyone Do you realize that one bottle of 1000 which now costs would last a fan family ly of six for nearly six months A 1000 would last one person three years The trouble with much of our our- legislation today is Is that much of ot our bur freedom goes with the passage of the bills And thi this would be one such meas meas- ure l If adopted you will have to drink fluoridated water out of your tap whether you like It or not Another pitfall is taxes We ar ara old gh tc t. t sea siP f sr V nothing Is free When the government gov government gOv- gOv has to pay i the the cost of administering a program m It always means a tax hike I feel that those persons who want to have their family take the fluoride can easily afford to do so But lets let's look twee e before we take away Ot Other another er freedom of c choice olce Ever Everyone one does not want to take fluoride Why should they have o it An elderly man complained to his doctor that he wasn't he waSn't feeling well l 1 ni 1 I can to help you you J said the doctor You know 1 I can ft t I make you young again agath I I don dont don't want to b be young again the theman man replied I 1 1 just want to keep on et lIgI gt older |
