Show Ephraim Elementary Students Pen Feelings On Early Thanksgiving Celebrations Thanksgiving In America has become a time for families A time for association with those most dear to us A time Ime for having good times together and anda a time Ume for fo remembering other good times As days and weeks speed by it has often orten seemed as we get more and more Involved In today's living that If 1 It weren't for the reminders that the schools give our children we might soon forget the past p t significance significance significance sig sig- of our national holi holi- days Days come como and go and we seem to move faster and anti faster Into the future and this Is not bad but In order that we might keep reminded of why we celebrate It is good that our children bring home hom their stories their pictures and their questions qUo that are stimulated in the schoolroom Representative v of stories that are written in the different classes in school in remembrance remembrance remembrance brance of historical events or orthey orthey orthey they might be stories that the children have written purely from their Imagination or orthey orthey orthey they might tell of Thanksgiving as It is today Each of the stories was selected from the class writing project based ona on ona ona a Thank Thanksgiving giving theme Each story chosen has something that thatis thatis thatis is uniquely its own A VISIT WITH THE PILGRIMS PILGRIMS PIL PIL- GRIMS GRiM If U you could turn the hand of the clock back to when the Pilgrims existed at first you would see many ships in the harbor at Plymouth But we will only take the adventure with two of these many ships One called the Mayflower and one called the Speedwell Now there there- were many people carrying supplies supplies supplies sup sup- plies into these two ships After Alter the ships were loaded everybody everybody everybody every every- body go got goi In the hold the men brought up the anchors and the ships were off The first trouble they had was the Speedwell got gota a leak and had to go back They went back and landed in Holland Some of the pilgrims stayed in Holland and some of them got on n the Mayflower Just JUit as they got started there was a new baby born They couldn't get a good name for her They decided it would be Oceanus because it was born at sea Well after alter something good happens like that something that you dont don't need to happen happens like this this people people were getting gelling sea sick some were dying And after alter two long months of sailing the watchman said Land Lan Ho H Hal I There was land and the pilgrims were happy The pilgrims wanted to land landin landin landin in Virginia but they didn't know their directions around sere ere and they landed at a harbor named Cape Cod The Indians started fighting with the settlers so they packed up and left to Plymouth When they got to Plymouth and Indian named Massasoit came and taught them how to plant corn with fish as S-juanto S slept with the pilgrims The pilgrims pilgrIm watched him by night after the corn was harvested the pilgrims had too much corn so they Invited all the Indians for a feast When the Indians got there they counted counted count count- ed 90 Indians That was okay because the Indians Indiano brought food for the feast too Later Abraham Lincoln set aside a day which is called Thanksgiving And that Is what you England because they had hid to o worship a different God than they y wanted to The two ships they took are art called the Speedwell and the Mayflower When they first started out the Speedwell sprung while they were gone The three thre children watched their parents wander into the woods The chil children dren set the table Then th the children were very tired Then The they thay saw a little mUe Indian Indan by the window They opened the door They asked him to come In in The little Indian was afraid but he could sm ll the turkey over the fire Then he came In They gave him some dinner Then they went to sleep When their parents came home they saw some Indians by the win win- dow The parents talked to the Indians They were surprised Then the they asked the Indians to come In The Hopkins
