Show NORTH NOTES ELEANOR MADSEN Telephone Among mong the some people who attended the world conference on records at the Salt Palace In Salt Lake City last week were Mrs Nellie Toone and Mrs Leslie Mad- Mad sen They returned home Friday Friday Friday Fri Fri- day evening after a most In Inspiring inspiring inspiring in- in and educational week Mr and Mrs Ferald Anderson Anderson Anderson Ander Ander- son accompanied by their daughter and her husband Donald Donald Donald Don Don- ald and Zena Rue Lombardi and daughters of Tooele were in Salt Lake City last Thursday to meet another daughter and her husband James and Velda Holseth and two daughters Brenda Lynn and Julianne of Cupertino California as they arrived on the California Zephyr The group spent several days in Tooele visiting and then came cameto cameto cameto to Ephraim where Mrs Lugene Nielson and sons joined them for fora a mountain camping trip over to Joes Joe's Valley They returned to Ephraim Monday evening and enjoyed a lovely dinner at Lugene's Lugene's Lugene's Lu- Lu genes gene's home Friday evening the parents of Mr Holseth Mr and Mrs Ted of Saratoga California California California Cal Cal- will arrive in Ephraim to visit at the Anderson home until Sunday The couple plans to fly to Wyoming and rent a acar acar acar car there to visit the before driving to Ephraim James will accompany them on their flight home Sunday while Velda and the girls remain to spend another week with her folks in Ephraim President and Mrs Floyd Holm returned to Ephraim last week after a marvelous ex experience experience experience ex- ex in Mexico a city of people about 50 miles from Monterey Since their return home the president has been confined to his bed with an infection He is reported report report- ed somewhat improved this week During their stay in Mexico President Holm attended the Institute one of the two universities there and studied Spanish They lived with a Spanish couple and their family Senor and Senora Flores who have nave a beautiful patio style home The Holms Holm's were generous In their praise for their hosts saying They were very very gracious and courteous The people and the country were very Impressive with great fortitude In rising above the conditions of poverty is a city of contrasts Mrs Holm said with men plowIng plowing plowing plow- plow Ing with the use of oxen and women wash washing ng clothing in th the streams on one hand and others living in luxury nearby The Th people are h happy as evidenced in the parks on a Saturday evening when the parents with their many children meet to to list listen n to the bands and enjoy the company of one another The people are mostly Catholic with many beautiful cathedrals In evidence The cli climate climate cli- cli mate Is delightful the city being in the mountains at about the same sam same altitude as Ephraim The cities are noted for their own specialties such as grape vineyards pecans and fruits ts and vegetables of various types One particular custom President President President Pres Pres- ident and Mrs Holm noticed was the dress of the Mexican people The girls were very modest with no shorts and long stockings The boys were clean shaven and nicely dressed After leaving the Holms traveled through Texas and marveled at the magnificence of lit that great state its miles of farmland beautiful ranch homes homes' and oil wells They also enjoyed Flagstaff Arizona and the trip from Denver Denver Denver Den Den- ver Colorado along the Colorado Colorado Colorado Colo Colo- rado River home Three girls received certificates certificates certificates of graduation from the primary in the Ephraim NorthWard North NorthWard NorthWard Ward last Sunday evening Ac Accepting Accepting Accepting Ac- Ac the certificates from their teacher Mrs Eva Thompson Thomp Thomp- son were Florence Williams Tina Black and Kathy Cherry The girls each gave a talk and sang the Graduation Song with Myrna Green as their ac ac- ac The subjects for the talks were the power of the priesthood temple marriage and the word of wisdom Speaker for the sacrament services was Professor Douglas Douglas Douglas Doug Doug- las H H.
