Show Lagan Utah Thursday May 25 1972 Mrs Hampton's Talk ‘ Notes Search For Life By Ted G Haases Herald Journal Staff Writer The former Miss Lucybeth Csrdon of Logan returned to her alma mater Wednesday night to pfHrfpata in the traditional Candlelight High Logan Ceremony bid this time as the hitirwi meeker Wearing a dress closely matching the color of the senior girl's caps Mrs Calvin L (Lucybeth Cardon) Hampton addressed the students on the subject of a “Search For Ufa" caUng for cultivation of the mind through liberal arts She said that there is a posing concern for life today and gowns Lost Turkey LONDON (UPI)— Police today tried to trace the owner of a white turkey found wandering Wednesday in the Eustou area Alfred Biooman said be could hardly believe his eyes when he saw the bird waddling along near his apartment There was a string arpond its neck Biooman led the turkey back home and called police and told the students they should strive “to make life more enriching and more fulfilling “Something” she said “is happening to the values in our society I do not mean the length is only a superficial of hair-t- hat thing What I mean is the number of cars that are having to be recalled for faulty parts and workmanship the rftoddy dothing that women must now buy and the violence that is growing in our society” Mrs Hampton uid die vu not calling for as drastic a revolution as the Cultural Revolution in China under Mao Tse Tung but she Is hoping for an evolution for a finer life To achieve this die said “we must have a cool head and use rational thinking” Saying that there must be variations between black and white old and new good and bad Mrs Hampton felt that Mao’s sweeping away of an old culture and old thinking and old ways was too high a price for the new China to pay “We still have the standards brought to Utah by the pioneers miners and railroad men” she said “and the culture that has grown from these standards is as Important as the 9 crafts- manship they brought” Calling for the preservation of our human and cultural riches Mrs Ramptan said that “you know how hard it is to legislate standards in this state It is a very personal thing that cannot be enacted by laws” In working toward a constructive evolution of a better life she said that faith in God man and self as well the values and standards received by our inheritance are of most importance Following her adefress Gary Henrie senior class president presented Mrs Hampton with an “L" pin the highest honor given to a Logan High student for their service activities for the benefit of the school She told Henrie that she was already wearing one that is 40 years old and he said that the senior class was glad to see that she has been MRS CALVIN L HAMPTON emphssises a point during her active in her extracurricular speech to Logan High School sealers as part of this year's activities The students then began their traditional CsmBeHMit Ceremony Mrs Hampton a Logan High traditional Candlelight Walk graduate herself was presented an “L” pin the highest honor to a around the campus “to gradate of the school following her sdefrets (Herald Journal reminisce” as
