| Show governor proclaims registration dav dag BY THE GOVERNOR oti THE clr biage STATE OF UTAH A proclamation proclamation the congress of the united states has enacted a law directing that all male persons persona between tho the ages of 21 and 30 both bath inclusive shall bo be registered for military service complying with this law the president of the united states has by proclamation called upon all male persons of 0 the designated ages to register in their domic domiciliary illary voting districts on june 5 1917 throughout the united states yung young men ot of military age will present for enrollment in preparation tor for the selective service for their country during the present war it Is the purpose of the government ot of the united states and of 0 this state to emphasize the far reaching significance of this occasion in order that this day be observed throughout the state in a manner comporting comforting com porting with its national importance 1 I simon bamberger governor of the state of 0 utah by virtue of the power per conferred on me by the constitution and laws of the state do hereby proclaim and set apart TUESDAY JUNE 5 1917 as a public holiday this day should be kept as registration resist ration day and all programs should be in keeping with the spirit ot of willing service shown by the young men of the state who enroll their names on toe the count rys honor list no other ather objects should be permitted to intrude flags should float from all buildings and residences and registration places sli should could be appropriately decorated although costly decorations should be discouraged good citizens should volunteer their services ser vires in assisting registration officers and in encouraging the young youn men of military age to register those registering should be given distinctive badges indicating that they have been enrolled I 1 recommend that a meeting on tho the evening evening of june jime 5 be arranged tor for through the operation cooperation co of municipal authorities and civic organizations in every town and city in the state these gatherings should be addressed by prominent speakers acting for the united states the state and the various communities in congratulating young men on their J opportunity of at entering the service ot of their country done at the capitol in salt lake city this day of may 1917 in teb testimony whereof I 1 have hereto set my hand and caused io to be affixed the great seal ot of ane state of utah SIMON BAMBERGER governor by tho the governor harden bennion secretary of state |
