Show STANDROD HAS BIG N independence day was fittingly observed in the lively town which boasts ot of being situated both in utah and idaho standrod utah and standrod idaho prepared a program that supplied entertainment throughout the entire day and long into the night and many people were attracted from distant points to participate in the festivities tivi tivit ties les the celebration began with a program in the morning which included prayer by the chaplain W anderson remarks on the signing of the declaration la of independence by 0 W mcintire who impersonated uncle sam mandolin and guitar selection by joseph bjorkland and mrs airs beckquist Eck quist reading by mrs airs saunders reading by henry mcintire oration by joseph bjorkland by mrs airs alta hoag boag and singing of america by the multitude at 1 p m dinner was served to the entire population the banquet board being laden with a bounteous supply of diversified viands which included everything in season A greased pig was next turned loose and no end ot of amusement was created by the young fellows who essayed to capture it childrens races came next and then hen a regular wild west show was staged in n which a number 0 of bucking horses were ridden A ball game between standrod and ratton rafton resulted in victory tor for the visitors in to the tune of 18 9 A saddle horse race between standrod and yost was won by the yost horse the festivities ended in a grand ball in the evening which was attended by everybody old as well as young during the day mr and mrs airs 0 D mcintire operated an ice tream cream stand and served the populace with cooling cream and drinks mr air and sirs airs dod bateman of salt lake city have been spending a week or two visiting in this part of the county everything looks fine in this section and we anticipate bounteous crops in every department |
