Show Ephraim City Urges J i up Clean-up Projects The Ephraim City Council last Tuesday night discussed the city's up clean-up work which they felt has been lagging It was noted that there has not been much up clean-up activity recently recently re reo re- re and this is needed The weeds must be cleaned up and old unsightly buildings should I be e torn down Councilman LaVor LaYor Taylor stated that he felt the committee had done a good job jobI I up to a point He said that those I who will clean up have already done so and that the others just I wont won't respond I He said that both entrances to town are still badly in need of clean up work It was hoped that a fresh interest in this project project could be sparked Alvin Green president of the I Ephraim Rotary Club Garth P. P i Monson director in charge of j I community affairs for Rotary Rawlin Jacobsen and Bert Will Will- den co-chairman co of the Rotary Park Committee were present j atthe at at the council meeting and outlined outs out out- lined a plan for a park to be s built south of the cemetery to tobe tobe j be used for towns people and for fora forI I a rest park for tourists They discussed this proposed park with the city council and were asked to go ahead and make a master plan for the park there The city is in the process of negotiating with Snow College for the former College athletic field and it was felt that there is a need for both parks the one oneto oneto oneto to be developed for athletic activities activities ac ac- ac and the other for picnicking picnicking picnicking pic pic- nicking and for tourist use Committees will be appointed in the Rotary Club and the Lions Club to make application J for federal grants in developing I these parks The M Manti-Ephraim Manti Airport II I was discussed and a meeting was planned for the Manti and Eph Eph- raim councils to meet together and talk with Harry Mosher Mr Mosher has several things he would like to do at the airport and would like the approval of both towns before proceeding The meeting will be set in the near future The street oiling project was also looked into by the council Ephraim has asked the county for help in this matter and is still awaiting their answer Valden Valden Val Val- den J. J Francks city councilman was asked to contact the county commissioners and see what decision decision decision de de- de- de has been made The city lawmakers also probed the problem of building permits There has been a lot lotof lotof lotof of building done this summer and it was noted that permits have not been issued on these places It was decided that a notice be placed in the Enterprise requesting requesting re reo re- re questing all those who are building building build build- ing or planning to build to make application for building permits at once It was pointed out that without a building permit a person person person per per- son can be stopped in the middle of his construction Glen Bailey was reappointed as building inspector with the city council still the building committee committee com com- to pass on permits before before before be be- fore the construction is started The library roof was discuss discuss- ed It had been discovered on Tuesday that the roof on the library li li- li library is badly in need of repair or of a new roof This matter should have been done at the time the library was remodeled but was not included in the architects architect's architects architect's architects architect's ar ar- ar- ar plan It was pointed out that it must be taken care of now in order to protect the remodeling remodeling re reo re- re modeling done inside the li li- li A meeting will be held with the building contractor doing doing do do- ing the work on the swimming pool to get his estimate on the project |
