T keeper of the Word of Wisdom), industrious, studious, (a great student of the Book of Mormon and Bible), devoted to the service a lover of the great of his fellowmcii, and an enthusiastic and loyul citizen, if the words of ITcs. Gardner aud Mr. Anderson are to be ucccpled at par value. So far as we know they ure true. But wo remember also many other outstanding persons who have given service to scouts and young men. We recall one woman, Mrs. Louise Alston of Magralh. Alberta, Canada, who for 25 years has led a troop of boy scouts. She is the only; woman sedut master in Canada, so far as wc know. She is a sister of Utah County Clerk Clarence Grant, of American Fork, lteccntly her boys, graduates from her troops over the pusl 25 years, gathered in Magratk to honor her. What u tribute those stalwart sons gave as they pant homage to a woman who had made citizens out of liiem, for there is no greater influence in America and Canada today toward building up good citizenship than is the Boy Scouts organization. Another scout master of a different kind deserves some recognition too. Every Council member present Monday night received a sample copy of "Boys Life, that "silent scoutmaster for American boyhood. Have you ever recognized the service it is offering boyhood! One glance at it ought to convince you of its value. .Not one page, not one line of anything but that which would uplift and cucouragu boyhood to higher living. No liquor or tobacco advertising, not an advertisement in it which would not benefit both buyer and seller if the readers patronized the organization placing the ml. In a world so filled with commercialism, when anything aud everything is bought ami sold, when for money, opinions can lie warped and twisted to suit the purpose of the sjiuce buyer, making black appeur as white, wc feel like paying tribute to any publication which has the moral courage to refuse to be bought, or to sell itself for the benefit of its advertisers, rather than its rcudcrB. President Henry Gardner mid Chief Scout Executive A. A. Anderson of the Utah Xatioiial Parks Coun cil of the Boy Scouts of America went out of their way Monday night during the monthly Council meeting to pay tribute to I)r. L. J). I Touts of lay son, and to Samuel II. lllake of Sharon, und some other real scouters who have devoted from 20 to 110 years of their lives to scouting. Words of commendation such as spoken that night Dr. for I'fouts, who had left the meeting to attend the hick bed of his father who is 85 years of age, must make the heart strings "tune up considerably and reiy him fur many a service which only he knows about. Though not a Mormon no far as affiliation with the L. D. S. church is concerned, Dr. Pfouts is nn example to most Mormons in the fundamental teachings of Morinonisin.
