If the head remains embedded it Is advisable to use a rasor blade or a sharp knife which has been sterilised and cut away sufficient akin to remove It Care should be exercised against crushing the tick on the skin the contents of an infected tick are very dangerous. After handling ticks the hands should be washed thoroughly with soap and water. It la advisable for those going into areas known to be Infested with diseased ticks to be vaccinated. Two or three inoculations with the vaccine gives a protection usually sufficient to last through one tick season, but the Immunity Is not permanent and should be repeated each year. Vaccine will be furnished free of charge to all physicians in 8a!t Lake City and vicinity by the Utah State Board of HMlth. Physicians in other parts of the state should secure vaccina from the Public Health Laboratory at Hamilton, Montana.
