Or simply because someone else wanted the job? In your own private business you would say no. But Orem City business is your business, Mr. Citizen. New read the following and vote your conscience next Tuesday. Here is the outstanding record of the present City administration which has guided Orems affairs for substantially eight years: Bought and improved the present City Hall and Park of 37 acres, with valuable water rights, for $11,500 valued conserva1. tively at $50,000. Bought and developed a beautiful cemetery. 2. Constructed 16 miles of sewer mains with additional miles of laterals with no cost to general tax payer. 3. Bought over 30 percent of the Alta water Spring right, one of the finest streams in the State. Plans under way will put it in the City system soon. 4. Annexed Carterville, Grand View, Lake View, and Vineyard additions. By an nexations and new developments they have more than doubled the assessed valuation of Orem City. 5. , . Promoted Metropolitan Water District and its subscriptions to the Deer Creek Project for water for exchange purposes. 10. 11. Cooperated with schools, churches, and other organizations for community reational programs. 12. Furnished office facilities for rec- Aided in war bond and united war fund drives. 13. 14. Oiled 14 miles of streets with the assistance of property owners. Have made plans for additional water mains which are now the bottleneck in the water supply, also plans for water exchanges and for 1,000,000 gallon storage reservoir. 15. Bought fire fighting equipment, and have planned volunteer fire department to go into operation immediately. 16. Has obtained $219,360.95 from free Government grants to help with programs. This has necessitated much hard work and patient endeavor. Services of Mayor and City Coundlmen were rendered largely without pay, as salaries were wholly inadequate , 17. compensation. All these programs were put over, and the net cost per each person in the community, because of the increase in population, has actually .decreased. The net indebtedness per capita in 1939 was $49.28 while day it is $42.58, or a decrease of $6.70. to- Orem citizens are fortunate to have such a group of progressive, efficient servants, willing to serve additional time. The present City administration represented a United Orem. It was elected unanimously in 1913. Reelect them and you have the best chance to keep Orem united, at least as far as it is possible to unite over 5,000 people. This is no time for a change. for Give them a vote of confidence.
