South-easten- er Several of the business men of Sugarhouse becamed alarmed when they found that the state meant business and had started work on the new highway this year. Over a year ago Mr. H. C. Young, warned some of the business men of Sugarhouse at a League meeting of the proposed highway, also an article appeared in The Bulletin in regards to the proposed highway. Little attention was paid to the warn ing given by- Mr. Young and his suggestion that an investigation be aiadc was not acted upon. Efforts will now be made to to atop the completion of the highway, by a number of those who feel that their business will be effected. They feel that as Sugarhouse has been located for many years on the main highway .that they are entitled to consideration from the state. They point out that the unfinished part of highway No. 40 .could begin at 11th East and go North to 5th South. This route would require only that sixteen blocks of highway bo built, while present plans call for about twenty- - one and that the route up eleventh wauls not 6nly save the state money but would help all concerned. - ! There are four teams representing our fair suburb in the Salt Lake Softball Association, and don't think thcyr not. Knight Brothers and Granite Furniture tangled last week in one of the fastest, yet Bloodiest" game ever played In our lighted ball park, this game was a playoff, the winner Gen-erto play the "silk uniformed half first Electric boys for the division. "A" In the championship Knight and Knight, after throwing several of Willards" new balls over the fence (cause they dldnt like 'em) managed to win this game 0 to 3 The following evening, our local banker Bill Wlscom, with a lot of splendid support from tho Knight crew, pitched a no hit game against G. E. to win the first half pennant. "Wiskey struck out 3 men in this game, only allowing two men to reach first base, ene on an error and the other a free trip. Score 9 Ala to 0. The two other clubs, LumHouse Barbecue and Sugar ber arc both doing some fine worn in the B division, Als club have been holding down the top row la this division for some time now, ana we hope they can hang on to It. Alfine bunch of hard hitbert has ting ball players, his pitching stafi Is just a little weak, we can't tql: yet whether it is stage fright or sore flippers.but their hitting ana fielding makl up for this difference. Marve Ashtons boys have not won any championship as yet, but they havo knocked over a lot of big boys, and lately they are beginning to look plenty good, with tho good luck they should go places in a hurry.
