Maria Sweeten, of Mountain Meadow Ranch, again distinguished herself in the Queen Contest at the Smith Summit High School Rodeo, held in Oakley May Seventeen-year-ol- d Ms. Sweeten won a trophy as Miss Congeniality and also won the Silent Judging (based on horsemanship and appearance) in the Queen Contest. In addition, Maria placed third in the first night comg and barrels. petition on School Rodeo Club was represented in the Every High weekends events, with some coming from as far away as St. George. Approximately 225 contestants were entered and competition between the clubs was keen. Congratulations are certainly in order to Maria. 25-27t- h. goat-tyin- WORKERS WALK OUT Sheet metal workers employed at the Park Avenue Condominium site staged a walkout on Friday, May 31. A spokesman for the Intermountain Sheet Metal workers stated that Brown Brothers Plumbing and Heating, the parent company, had not fulfilled promises of fringe benefits which were reportedly included in the workers contract. Insurance, vacation pay, and other benefits have not been paid to date, the spokesman said. Especially disputed is the lack of insurance which could put the workers in jeopardy of injury without REC REGISTRATION HISTORICAL SOCIETY WORKSHOP The Park City Historical Society will host a historical preservation workshop on June 7th and 8th, at the Memorial Building. The Friday, June 7th session will commence at 6 PM with Dr. Stan Layton speaking on Researching Historic Preservation. Following Dr. Laytons talk, a potluck dinner will be offered, and after dinner, an open discussion on historic preservation for Park City will take place. The Saturday session will begin at 9 AM with a presentation on Registers of Historic- Preservation given by Mr. Kent Powell. Following a coffee break, the remainder of the morning session will be devoted to instruction on the taking of both oral and slide histories. A sack lunch will be provided for the noon meal. During the afternoon session, demonstrations of interviewing, acquisition of photo documentation and the writing of local histories will be presented. There will be no charge for the workshop, and all interested people are encouraged to attend. Jim, a fellow connoisseur of useless information, correctly identified Jackie Wilson as the recording artist who sang Lonely Teardrops, Osgood Conklin as the high school principal in the TV series Our Miss Brooks, and Fort Sumter as the location of the firing of the first shot in the Civil War. His adroitness in recalling these trivial facts from the past earned Jim a free lunch courtesy of The Eating Establishment.
