Show J'i Wednesday, March 13, 1974 CITY Lodging Group Meets fast and accurate method The Park City Lodging Association held its monthly meeting last week to discuss the operation of the Reservation Center operated by the Utah Ski Association. The center is responsible for booking skiers at the various areas in Utah. They publish a fact book promoting Utah skiing which provides an advertising outlet for the many , of determining where vacancies exist at the different areas, To finance these improvements the board had several ideas. Advertising in the fact book will be increased. Membership dues will be restructured and new members will be solicited such as transportation agencies, restaurants, area shops. Lodges and lift areas will contribute 1 percent of the room and lifts passes on tour bookings. The board is also hoping to get aid from the State fund generated by the transient room tax. After Dales summary of the board meeting, there was general agreement that the reservations center provided a valuable service. Problems existed but they had been recognized and solutions were being worked out. lodges. TO emphasize the importance of their service to Park City, Jim Carr, President of the P.C. Lodging Association, reported that an increasing percentage of the Reservation Centers business is coming to this town. Park During the winter of 1971-722 of received the City percent business generated by the center. For the 1972-7- 3 winter, the figure was 30 percent and it will be about 40 percent this winter. For Alta the corresponding figures were 57 percent for 1971-7and 43 1972-7for because Alta, percent of its confined location, has a relatively fixed number of rooms. On the other hand. Park Citvs accommodations are growing and they can benefit from the increasing number of skiers coming to Utah. Dale Nelson reported on a recent board meeting of the Utah Ski Association which he had attended. The meeting was mainly concerned with problems of the reservations center and the ways to improve the service.
