The drive is held to assist active and retired Army personnel and their families when a financial emergency exists such as Privation of dependents, Emergency ..Travel or other emergencies which cause you or your family hardship. Since Government funds are not appropriated to provide emergency financial assistance to Military personnel and their dependents, AER must rely on annual voluntary contributions from members of the Army, and repayments on loans and income from investments, in order ' to finance die assistance prog--' During this campaign, all active duty and retired Military personnel will be contacted by a unit representative. Members are encouraged to help the Army help its own through this program. All contributions are tax deductible. To apply for financial assistance under the Relief Fund an appointment must be made with the individuals Company Commander, who will evaluate the situation. If it is determined that AER assistance is justified, an appointment will be made with the AER Officer here, CPT Joseph Ponce or the Alternate AER Officer, 1LT James If a situation or need meets the authorized requirements, assistance will be granted within an hour. The tour extension program is one of 19 actions the Army has taken to reduce costs associated with reassignment of personnel both in the US and overseas.
