Show The Deseret Sampler, Friday, March 24, 1972 Overseas assignment AR policy changed The Army Regulations controlling oversee assignment policies recently have Iteen changed. Beginning April 1, persons serving overseas can request a voluntary extension of their overseas tour up to a maximum of five years. EFFECTIVE July 1, it will be necessary for a career individual to extend his term of service or in order to have sufficient time to complete the prescrilred oversea tour and to qualify for transportation oi dependents at Government expense.' Other persons will le required to have a minimum of 12 months service remaining as of the date originally scheduled to report to the oversea replacement station. Also beginning April 1 of this year, volunteers for Vietnam and Korea who are presentoverseas ly serving will le will Vietnam le submitted through channels so commanders can recoiumeud approval or disapproval as for volunteers for other oversea arras. And again effective April 1 officers and warrant officers serving in stabilized positions will not lie permitted to volunteer for oversea service (except Vietnam) until they have comof the pleted at least stabilized tour. They will not lie reassigned until the stabilized tour has lieen completed. These changes are not intended to result in assignment deletions.
