Anne Locke, ceramic instructor at the Art and Craft Shop, receive Teacher Awards and Certificates from Major Joseph P. Curau, Welfare and Morale Officer, and Mike Masoian, Director of the Art and Craft Shop. kin. I.ocke earned the certificate at four ceramic seminars slie attended recently. Anne Locke, ceramics instructor at Dugway s Arts and Crafts Shop, has earned a Certified Ceramic Teacher Certificate from Duncan Ceramic Products, Inc., the worlds largest manufacturer of ceramic hollby products. Mrs. Locke earned the certificate after completing four ceramic seminars in Salt Lake City, Sacramento, California; and Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is the only person in Utah who presently holds a certificate for attending all four of the seminars. The certificate designates Mrs. Locke as a fully qualified teacher of the latest ceramic color and decorating techniques, and is awarded only after successful completion of a prescribed course of seminar instruction and a comprehensive, practical and written examination. The seminars, taught by professionals, employ the latest methods of teaching ceramic product knowledge. They are a major effort by Duncan to add professionalism to ceramics fast becoming one of the worlds most popular hobbies. After completing the seminars, Mrs. Locke conducts special ceramic classes at the Arts and Crafts Shop to teach these new techniques to the residents of Dugway. Anyone interested in ceramics or the classes of instruction should call the Arts and Crafts Shop. Mrs. Shields, an attendant in the Day Care Center since it reopened last Septemlier, replaces Mrs. Jean Stevens who moved to Washington, D.C. with her Force Captain huslwnd Air Charles Stevens. Lacy, as most of her friends call her, has attended the University- Oklahoma State University where die majored in Psychology. She has also attended the University of New South Wales in Sidney, Australia and has done counselling with some Ciri Scout groups. Hie job of nursery director is a hill time one and a difficult one. As director, Mrs. Shields must supervise the operation of the Day Care Center and the Nursery School. She must make sure that there are sufficient supplies for both the Day Care and Nursery School. She also arranges special activities and programs for the Nursery School such as safety talks and parties for the Day Care and Nursery.
