Ch E-- 9 E-- 8, Lauby (LTC) Promotions To DA Centralized Army-Wid- e Contrary to the claims of the ideology of communism, it is Christianity and not atheism that has taught the human race the dignity of labor. We are ready to admit that our emphasis has not alwaySJieen in keeping with the Christian ideal and standard, but the principle is always there and serves as a reminder to draw men luck to the example and teachings of our Lord. As each generation seeks to build a 1 letter world, it must face an increasing number of social and economic problems. These problems become ever more difficult to solve when man follows the purely human aspirations which tend to elevate one class of individuals above another. We need to be reminded frequently of the record in the gospel of John (13:4-5- ) concerning the example of service which Christ gave to His disciples. He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments and took a towel, and girded himself. After that He poureth water into a basin, and liegan to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel." For even the Son of Man came not to Ire ministered unto, (served) but to minister, (serve) and to give Ifis life a ransom for many." Mark 10:45. Thus we find that the Christian life and message is one that dignifies the menial tasks and takes the drugety and monotony out of life. It cuts across the selfish ambitions of man, and puts meaning into the humblest tasks of life. One of the most gratifying experiences of life comes to that soul who has rendered some service; Ire it ever so humble, to another's need, and has done it out of the sincerity of his heart. and 's will soon compete for centralized promotions acto the grades E--8 and E-cording to the Department of the Army. The Army has suspended until June 1969 a regulation which generally restricts branch transfer for officers with less than two years service. To be eligible for transfer, officers must either have been school trained as a communications officer (Military Occupational Specialty 0200) or have been awarded MOS 0200 as a result of an assignment. In 1966, the Department of the Army directed that communications officer positions in all branches be filled by Signal Corps officers. Some of these slots in units not under the direct command of the Signal Corps are still being occupied by officers from other branches. All officers considered for temporary promotion to lieutenant colonel who are reported as not selected by two consecutive boards will be rerelieved from active duty under the provisions of AR 3, provided nine months or more elapse between the selection boards. promotion change was made in the se- lection of temporary majors in 1967. 135-17- Regular officers who miss being selected twice will be separated in accordance with AR 624-10- !
