Beckstead reported that, barring further resignations, all Jordan schools will be fully staffed with certified personnel at the opening of school Aug. 29. At Thursdays meeting the board accepted resignations of nine teachers and approved contracts for 'seven replacements. The superintendent reported that he expected no difficulty in hiring the two additional grade school teachers necessary to complete the roster. Carpeting for the faculty room and counselors offices at Hillcrest and carpet replacements at Draper and Bingham was approved on the low bid of Southeast Furniture of $10.32 per square yard, including pad and installation. Several personnel appointments were approved by the board. Donald F. Barney was added to the custodial staff at Hillcrest. Calvin Webb was approved as bus driver. Mrs Hogan, 79. who served as vice president of the original Salt Lake County Fair Board, was honored in 1945 by the federation for meritorious service. A 1906 graduate of the University of Utah. Mrs Hogan taught in the Jordan School District lor a number of years. She was a member of the U. of U. Emeritus Club. She was active in Relief Society work of the LDS Church and was a charter member of the Archibald Gardner Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
