Hi gang, this is I, oldAlfyChauncy Harola Jack Thunderarm, NPB (the NPB stands for Neighbor Paper Boy). This Is my corner. It's where I get together with you guys every so often and kind of chew the fat like. . . . know what I meant! I was thinking on my way to the grocthe other day (I always go to the store ery because my pop is too lazy store grocery I and my mom always has her hair up in pin curls). Anyway I was thinking on my way to the store like I said. I was thinking about how I became a "Neighbor" carrier. I was sitting there one afternoon just digging holes in old Mr. McCrasky's lawn for lack of anything better to do. I had Just finished waxing my motorcycle Jacket and had cut three more notches in the sleeve. I remember that because I was standing in the comer over by the hedge where I had taken it off. Well anyway, this big black sedan rolls up to the curb and this fellow hops out and sticks a gun in my ribs. I did the only natural thing.. . ...went along with him, of course. It didn't turnout too badly though. He took me to this dark damp basement. I didn't mind the rack mucn and after they had pulled out all my fingernails I agreed to become a carrier. It was one of tne happiest days of my Ufe. Never again, I decided, would I pilfer from Pop. I gave up my Job at the bank (after all it's not easy to be a president) and since then my life has been one eternal millstream of happiness. Oh, oceaslpnally I have to rub out some Martain for taking the papers out of the mailbox and putting them the lawn, but all in all irs good. See ya' later gang, don't take any wooden subscriptions. CR7 6148 PTA, in searching for a concrete project for the year, decided to undertake the restoration and reorganization of this most Important department in any school. Mrs. Roy L. Finley, a former librarian, assumed the chairmanship and began early last summer to bring order out of chaos. Over the months she has had the faithful help of many PTA mothers in instituting the card file Dewey Decimal System, printing cards and repairing books. Since the library has been open to the students, the PTA room mothers have assumed the task of assisting the children, checking books in and out, and keeping them in their proper sections. These ladles, too, have been most dedicated to their part in making the library a success. And a success it is, for although the school possessed over 500 books, tne shelves are always over half empty, which indicates that each student is reading at least one book a week. This interest pointed up the immediate need of new books, so they were duly ordered and paid for from a fund-raisimovie and refreshment afternoon held on March 24, 1961, Approximated $150 was cleared at this time and the PTA hopes to be able to add another $100 before tne end of the school term so that a new shipment of books wll be waiting in the fall.
