Since that time we have looked closely at some of the families that live In our own area and others with whom we are well aqualnted. Truly the results of this survey reveals that no more than a transition gap exists similar to that which has ever existed between two or more generatons of people. She was the daughter of William and Anna Nora Nelson Hyler. She received her education In the Salt Lake City public schools and graduated from the Latter-Da- y Saints University. She was married to C. Earl Alsop of Sandy, Utah January 24, 1917. To them were born 4 sons and 7 daughters Anna Mae (Wilde), Rodney E. Darwin R., Leone E., LaRue (Blll-eter- ), Donna L., Pearl H. (Knight), C. Earl, Fae H. (Benson) Dora Beth, Jerry H. right-thinkin- The pictures and reports of the two families In todays paper is published primarily to refute the Idea that for youth to be successful he must step out of the family circle, and, on his own, find the answers to the good life: Joseph Smith, when asked how he governed the people so well, replied, 1 teach them correct principles and they govern themselves. The children In these two families were taught correct principles; the second and third generatons are being taught correct principles and the results speak for themselves. When 110 persons In one family group and 80 In the other group can mingle with society without police records, Incidents of delinquency, we have ample proof that the generation gap is and school drop-ou- ts only the figment of Imagination on the part of those who would change the world by waving the magic wand. When members of these families can secure good educations, secure profitable employment and find happiness In service to others and show their appreciation for parental dlrctlon there Is no gap between these geneatlons. Within the area of our aqualntance there are many such families making the grade and striving to reach the high goal of successful citizenship in their homes and community. Services lce Today we stand on the threshold of greater development, growth and progress than man has ever thought possible a few years ago. The fact that every day seeming miracles In science, electronics and other areas of progress leave us almost breathless. To meet these challenges youth must know the way by which he can grow to meet the challenges of today and in the future. Too many would-b- e reformers are attempting to overrule, or set aside moral principles' and fundamental laws that have stood the test of time In all generations. It Is possible that g, Intelligent men and women will unit to protect this new generation of young people from believing that certain learned professors and disldent groups of reformers have all the answers to lifes utopia. 3 ADS Leone was drowned In an Irrigation ditch In Sandy August 22, 1924 Dora Beth was drowned In Mill Creek September 30, 1939 Jerry was killed In an auto accident with his mother June 6, 1949 at Rogden, Colorado. As of this date there are 42 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren In this family. Mrs. Alsop was Primary President for 14 years, active member of 3 ward Relief Society's 28 years, Director of Junior Seminary Miller ward 3 years, L. D. S. Girls program director South Sal Lake Stake '6 years. She also participated In Cancer, Red Cross T.B., March of Dimes and other fond drives. She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah . Pioneers. Mrs. Ada Davison Glad Alsop passed away. Friday, August 30, In the year 1968. She was active In many of the the auxiliary organizations of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, serving as a missionary In the Northern States, East Central States and as a Granite Park Stake Missionary. As a prodigious spiritual leader, she spent countless hours with the youth In the South Salt Lake area, where she resided for over 45 years. She was the wife and mother of five eagle scouts, a devoted grandmother of 26. Although widowed In 1932 and left to raise 5 children, she maintained her Independence, supported her family and participated In church and civic activities. She worked hard and struggled to raise the children to help them catch the vision of the good life. She asked few favors and with the help of her boys, kept solvent. She married C. Earl Alsop, December 27, 1949, and brought happiness to still another family. The 110 members of this family have a most outstanding record of good citizenship. Her 4 sons, 7 grandsons, and 2 grand son In laws have given a total of more than 110 years of military service to their country, as members of the National Guard, Marine Corps, Air Corps and tbs Army. Andrew Glad, a Lt. Col.(retlred) served In World War n and In Korea. Lee Is a Captain in the army, Darrel a Captain In the Marine Corps. Two grandsons have made the military serve a career. Mrs. Alsop received citations for services to the United Fund - Red Cross - Cancer drives and March of Dimes. Clyde D. Glad and his wife May T. Glad and their children.
