National Guard look at our armed servicemen - First line of defense The organized groups of air military once again put on a good show and demonstrated a great need for preparedness against forces who would destroy mans inalienable rights to life, liberty and freedom. The average citizen generally takes liberty and security for granted without too much thought of the preparation and training these servicemen have received over a period of years. The intensive Military training and preparation of our armed forces is reflected in the published causalty lists of Vietnam. Certainly it will be a great day when our boys return home and further deaths and injuries on the battlefield eliminated. However, until that can be accomplished in honor, and with full assurance that peace and security will be preserved, Americans should be ever thankful for the service and sacrifice of our Servicemen in maintaining our First line of Defense at home and abroad. V Granite High Elects Club Officers The reorganizing of school clubs at Granite High for next year Is starting to take shape. Recently such clubs as the G.A.Y.S., Debate Club, Pep Club, and the Key Club hasve elected new officers to head their organizations for the coming year. New officers for the G.A.Y.S. (Granltlans at your service) Include Ellen Myers as president, Judy OrlOb as vice president, with Lana Roach as secretary and Kerry Storlle as treasa-l- ong urer. Mr. flight Mr. Olses Political Parties Organized Republicans Fred T. Wright of American Fork and Mrs. Eleanor S. Olsen of Salt Lake City were elected chairman and vice chair- man to preside over the State Central Committee for two years. Other good republicans were in the running, but the delegate chose the ones they thought could best complete a good organization and unite the party In a real successful campaign for victory In 1970. The eighteen members, all girls, will start their service to the school next week by ushering at the senior's graduation. They are also planning to become official hostesses of the school, according to club president Ellen Myers. Key Club members have elected James and Jeffry Garcia as Joint president to head their organization along with Jan Bunker as vice Mrs. Veloy Booth of Brigham City was elected state Vice chairman at a special meeting of the Democratic State Central Committee In the State Capitol office building auditorium. This vacancy occurred when Governor Calvin L. Rampton appointed Mrs. Norma G. Thomas of Utah a member of the and lone- liness that only time can assuage. Georges parents, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Graham and family mem- bers of Burton Ward have been res- idents of South Salt Lake for many years. GRAHAM the Wednesday, April 16th, family of George S. Graham was grieved by his sudden death In a peculiar accident at his place of business. Accidents are constantly taking lives of loved ones without warning and the shock. Speakers at George's funeral were Bishop Cornelius Van Ry and Martell Bodell. ( boyhood friends and pals). Each paid sincere tribute to his sterling character as an obedient son, a faithful husband and a loving father. He was always friendly, kind and had a great love for his home and for people. His bishop stated he lived a good life, and was faithful to his home, family and church. He completed V'- : president, David Covington as Secretary and Larry Dew as treasurer. Laura Danboslre, Head Letter-H- l. Debate Club officers include Dan Harrow as president, Bruce Jensen as vice president and Stephanie Thomas as secretary. Other clubs will elect new officers next fall when school reconvenes. Control Commission. These elections completes state and county organizations for two years.
