We have little symphaty with those who denounce be administration in this the greatest crisis of all time. But we have some strong views on war and peace and trust that in the expression of them --e shall not be misunderstood We hava the conviction that none of the major problems of the world can be solved in any other way than by the spiritual regeneration of the pnop!e and the application of higher principles in the world of economics. To thia end we dedicate our effoits and we invite those with a like conviction to come and assist us in this worthwhile work. We know as we know that we live that only the developed powers of the spiritual side of human nature can save mankind from present ills. Whenever the race reaches the point where its men and women can exemse the true spirit of Brotherly Love one toward another there will be no need for all the armaments of dentruct-tio- n and no excuse whatever for nations to grovel in the jungles of poverty, ignoiance and war. The nations will never save themselves, nor will the world ever be ushered into any kind of a lasting Brotherhood unless the people first learn to exer-cis- e a genuine Brotherly love forall men. Battleships, armies, airplanes, tanka and poison gases can never bring the peace that is longed for by all good men and women; they attract the very things they seek to eliminate. If the people think war, plan and prepare forwar, and talk war, they are sure to get war. But if they think peace plin peace, prepare for peace and talk peace they most are likely to get and keep peace. But peace can never be attained through hatred and abuse. The peace that men have dreamed of and longed for and fought for is a thing of the spirit, and until the great nations prepare the hearts of their people to bring ab ut another spiritual Pen icost. which shall bring down from above the neces-sar- y spiritual fire, there will be no .sting or worthwhile peace among the stricken nations. 1 Miraculous Turning of tho Tide In tho Firs World War. In this article we mention socie miraculous happenings said to have taken place during the World war of 1914-1- 8 They apparently turned the tide for England in that day, and we assert that far greater miracles will tuin the tide this time. In tho first great day of trouble for the Allies when they were outnumbered, dropping with fatigue and facing defeat, they looked over their barricade and saw five wonderful beinga, clad in white, much larger than men. With outstretched hands they faced the enemyand suddenly stopped their progress. Back of this on the borne Tr on te very church" was crowded and ' all were in prayer. On another oocasion when again i he situation seemed hopeless the sky opened with a bright shining light and great luminous beings appeared between the two contending forces and the heavy enemy fire suddenly stopped and the Germans were forced to retreat. When the deadly gasses were used for the first time on April 22, 1914, at Ypres, the allied armies fell in large numbers and were seemingly perishing. Suddenly the wind changed and swirled the clouds of gas back on the enemy who staggered by the thousands to their death. fru- When the submarine menace was at its height and seemingly going to sweep all American craft from the seas there came a turbulence in the waters, the sea rolling and raging so that all crafts hed to come to the surface, which enabled the allies to sweep 199 submarines and 3000 of their crews to destruction or capture, thus breaking the submarine warfare. In the final year when Britain stood with her back to the wall, .and Germany was a safe bet to go through to Paris, the nation had another prayer day, likewise America, and the beinga in white again appeared before tbe eyes of Hie proud foe and caused the army to break into groups of frightened men who threw down everything and retreated in disorder. A German senior officer has attested this and states that he saw the white cavalry in the sky and he cried out, We are beaten we are beaten by the white cavalry. Far greater miracles than these will end this war. An Economic Wonder In U.S. A. Tbiity thousand young men, mere boys, went down to death with the torpedoed convoys off the shores of Greece. They were as fine boys as ever stood on the ramparts of time. Fifty thousand German boys went down in the taking of Mt. Olympus, and better physical specimens of young manhood never were seen anywhere. Alter dying they were ground into the dust by the tanks that followed their attack. And these are but a small part of all that is lost. It is not difficult to find a lawayer ora physician who knows how to deal, who ia eminent in hia profession; but it is not so ease t.o find one rho is a man before he is a lawyer ora physician; whose name is a synonym for all that is clean, reliable, solid, substantial. It is not difficult to find a good preacher but it is not so easy to find a real good sermon. It is easy to find successful merchants, but it is not soeasy to find one who puts character before meruhandise. What the world wants is men who stand for something in their community; whose very presence carry weight It wants men who will not loose their individuality in a crowd, men who have the courage of their convictions, who are not afraid to aay "No, though all the world say Yea. What a grand New Order of the Ages thia nation waa when it emerged from the hands of the immortal founders! And how regal and grandly it loomed on all the horisons of the world before the unhallowed hands of its exploiters and betrayers submerged it in the mire of their materialistic selfishness an d greed. There is nothing in all the world aomueh worth fighting for, even dying for as an effort to bring back the spiritual power, tbe moral force, the honesty and the honor and the. virtuous grandeur of the United State that waa before the unscrupulous money gatherers raped and . despoiled her! The saddest spectacle of our social life ia the neglected, unwanted and unloved boy, who has become a serious problem in our society. His plight is horrifying because his transgressions of law are measured only by standsrds of punishment rather than rehabilitation. "We will change that cruel yardstick. We will help the boy. Sure beats all how business grows. Why is it that, in spite of the ravages of time, the reputation of Lincoln grows larger and hia character means more to the world every year? It is because he kept his record clean, and never prostituted his ability nor gambled with hia reputation. Of course men love themselves most, which is natural, but he who can love some one else sufficient to help him up the hill, or inspire him to reach out for the heights is really doing a noble work. By helping others you may not see the immediate results. You may scatter help and blessings and flowers and not have the privilege of seeing any returns. But even at that you should be content with the thought that you have helped to make the world better and made youreelf stronger. The flowers you scatter will gladden tad eyes somewhere and the perfume will fill some souls with delight and thankfulness.
