I signed up with them when they came and wanted my farm as a demonstration farm. They claimed they could make my land hold more moisture so we set the day. Agents from several counties, soil conservation experts from all over, farmers, everybody came in to see the experts replan my farm. My farm been yielding worth had $2,-00- 0 of wheat a year. I had good crops but the pasture tended to dry out in the summer so I let them demonstrate. They came in with their machines, made waterways, strips and all the rest I just wish you could see it now. There are gullies down through my farm that I cant even drive a tractor across. They ruined my farm and that aint all. They got' me to put it on Soil Bank last year. I did. My cows got scared by dogs and a couple of them jumped in that field and now they are suing me for $750 penalty for pas turing Soil Bank. I had some wool subsidy money coming, $122, and they just subtracted it from my fine. Dear Jan: Yes, we still have a ew statesmen left in Congress, but we need more of them. And we, the people, must put them there. Congressman Noah Mason of IlliMany Americans who clamor for other forms of federal aid are opposed to other people getting the same. Perhaps we should view the whole subject of federal aid before we can determine what is costing too much. Our yearly federal budget includes the following items: Aid to Agriculture, $5 billion: aid to foreign governments, $5 billion; aid to veterans, $5 billion; aid to cities, $5 nois says, , billion. Federal aid to our cities takes the form of government housing, slum clearance, sewage disposal plants, airport construction, urban renewal projects, etc. This aid, given to some cities, forces other cities, that have taken care of their own needs, to be taxed again to help provide the funds to care for the cities that have failed to take care of their own needs, although in many instances are better able to do so financially than the cities that have.
