C. on April 10. While there, they will help to elect a new national committee chairman to replace Meade Alcorn who is resigning his position. Mr. Alcorn notified President Eisenhower last week of his decision. Mr. Eisenhower voiced regret at the decision. The resignation will be formally submitted at a meeting of the National Committee. Alcorn stated that he hopes a successor will be chosen at that time. Some 25 possible candidates have been mentioned as a replacement. Attending the meeting from Utah will be Thomas G. Judd, State Republican Party Chairman; Jerry Jones, national committeeman; Mrs. LaRue Jex, national committeewoman; Mrs. Helen H. Grown, State vice chairman, and Sid Eliason, Republican State finance chairman will attend the meeting. Alcorn is regarded as a GOP liberal and a tireless worker for the Republican party. He has been national chairman since January, 1957. Mr. Judd expressed regret at. Mr. Alcorn's resignation. He stated that he felt any of several suggested candidates would be a good choice for the position but added that he was Mr. particularly impressed by Sen. Thurston B.
