Nielsen Young Republicans in Tooele County recently, joined forces to organize a Y.R. group there. Elected to serve as was Nettie Brown of Grantsville. Though born in Butte, Montana, she has been a resident of Utah and Grantsville for the major part of her life. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cooley of Butte and is a graduate of Grantsville High School. She is married to Quentin Brown, Grantsville rancher and dairy farmer. They are the parents of five children, three girls and two boys ranging in age from two to eleven. Mrs. Brown says that her first really active interest in politics was generated because her husband is a candidate for the Tooele County Commissioner post Since then, she says, its just the sort of thing that grows on you and now she has an avid interest not only in helping her husband win the election but in stimulating this active interest in other young people. She says that Tooele County YR plans are to work especially with first voters and new voters and they are planning a meeting in the very near future with this group in mind. In addition to being a farmers wife and mother and an officer in the Y.R. group, Mrs. Brown has . found time to take an active part in her church. At present she is speech and drama director for the Clark Ward MIA, she sings in three choirs and has served on the Stake Board of the MIA. She has been active in PTA work and served her turn as room mother for her children. Success is sure to come to this new group of Y.R.s in Tooele County. With the spirit of willingness to work and a vital determination to make Republicanism known among the young group of voters in Tooele County they cant help but make their mark upon the political scene. vice-preside- nt by Stanley C. As you are trained in your business or profession so train yourself in your politics. for it is this best Be the best in professions, businesses, politics that makes America at home the image that she really is. America has been placed in a leadership position - while she is still a young nation. She has the same disadvantages as the young people she loves. She must learn also, the lessons of tolerance, understanding and patience. America must grow up. You can help her grow up. You can indulge in good citizenship, exercise your franchise to have a deep sense of responsibility. VOTE, Be America's voice - loud - clear and strong. America's mission in Hfe is that men may be free. Free men can always defeat slaves if they both work. Love your nation, dedicate yourself to God and Gauntry. Ardent sponsor of National Parks "Mission 66' " e and National Forests "Operation Outdoors" Road Commission Releases New $25 Million Plan Announcement has been made to qualified contractors of the Commissions plan for construction for y the next period. For the coming three months the tentative schedule calls for the advertising on 25 projects. These, have a total estimated cost of almost $25 million. For the period ending September 30, 1958, there were 20 out of 22 projects previously proposed that were opened for bids. In addition to this, there were 11 "D Emergency Fund Projects that were y advertised during the past period. With the opening of bids on Oct 14, the State Road Commission announced that R has opened bids on 90 projects . since the first of the year. This involves 468 miles of construction. The States last bid opening brought the total on the Interstate System to $10.5 million that is now under construction in Utah. Plans calls for for the ensuing bids the advertising for 09 almost $17 million more. on this national freeway system. This means that by the end of the year,. Utah State Road Officials intend to' have opened bids on over $27 million on the Interstate alone for 1958. by Madge H.
