Except for the blossoming of the famous cherry trees, this is about the only public function in Washington that costs the general taxpayer nothing. The Inauguration festivites are being financed entirely by the sale of tickets. FOOT FREE... People in Washington who want to witness the Inaugural Parade in person can do so free, if they dont mind standing up. But if they want a seat in the grandstands lining Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House, the charge is from $3.50 to $18.50 per person. The grandstands will hold over 64,000 persons and even with the stiff ticket price, seats are now difficult to obtain.
