The general feeling, says the reporter, seems to be that he is too aristocratc in manner, bearing and speech to be the kind of president the people want. With respect to Stevensons speeches, the reporter found that the first thing one notices, is the relative silence of the crowds. Stevenson wants it that way; he writes his own speeches so that there will be little interrupting applause. He wants to get his thought across. The difficulty is, continues the News Staffer, he seldom does. In essence, the great majority of listeners, rightly or wrongly, seem to feel that there is very little that can be said in criticism of President Eisenhowers speeches. In Lexington, President Eisenhower had spoken to 20,000 people in the auditorium of the University of Kentucky. Stevenson spoke in the open in front of the courthouse and drew a crowd of less than 10,000. In Flint, Mich., Stevenson and former Gov. Thomas E. Dewey spoke in the same hall on successive nights, with Dewey drawing s, r No. 69 : and NOTICE OF ORAL ARGUMENT on Motion to Dismiss ROBERT L. McMULLIN PHYLLIS B. ANDERSON Republican Candidate for District Attorney 3rd Judicial District Salt Lake. Summit, Tooele and Daggett Counties One of the most important, powerful and least known offices up for election Nov. 6, is that of District Attorney. He is the chief law enforcement officer in his district and has the responsibility of handling all Jury Trials for major crimes. These include murder, robbery, burglary, larceny, etc. As District Attorney Mr. Anderson and his staff have handlmore cases than ed any predecessor, without increase in the number of this staff or their salaries. His record of convictions has been exceptional by comparison with the national average. At the same time Mr. Anderson has sought the release of the innocent. Your consideration and vote will be appreciated. one-thir- d From Sale of Leases Five hundred members of the Mountain Ute Indian tribe will share in the recent money raised by the sale of oil and gas leases of tribal ground. Since the sale totaled $7,607,891, each man, woman and child who is a member of the tribe will receive a share of the money, or a little more than $15,000 for each Mountain Ute Indian. West and Dick ATTORNEY" After traveling with Democratic Candidate Adlai Stevenson through several states on a speech making tour, a Deseret News Washington Bureau staff writer preorts that Adlai does not win the affection of a crowd in the way than an Eisenhower or Harry Truman can. Moving through a crowd at Lexington, Ky., and asking people about their political preferences, the reporter found there was almost universal admiration for the President, always referred to as Ike. But even people who announced their intention of voting Democratic often did not care for e organizaancestry. The tion traditionally honors state and county Republican leaders with a a.m. 5.
