Show playgrounds TO BE OPENED SOON last year the kindergarten club launched the mor to provide a public play ground tor for the children or of brigham city the idea was very kindly received by the fathers and mothers of tills this community and many of them showed their interest by subscribing funds and patronizing the various functions that were given for the purpose of swelling the treasury all af of which was very encouraging to those who stood sponsor for the movement something like four hundred dollars were collected as a nucleus and with that amount the kindergarten club has provided grounds that hive have been enclosed with a netting wire fence planted trees constructed a wading pool erected iron pipe rm swings ings and andlee see baws and provided oth that the playgrounds playground a are arc now ready to bo be thrown open to the publio public and made beneficial use of ly by the little folks of the lile community there has been a mistaken thought go out that the play grounds are the property ot of the kindergarten club and operated only for the benefit of tile the children of the ladies who make up IP that organization tian tills this notion tile the club desires to correct tor for the play grounds GF are for the general public and bil alldren dren of ladles ladies who neither belong to the club nor have contributed one cent to their preparation are just as much entitled to the benefits they provide as are arc the children of those who are actively engaged in constructing the grounds all children of kindergarten age are invited and will be made wel come to enjoy the grounds and the equipment thus far provided hut but before the play grounds can be thrown open to the public it vill ivill bo be necessary to engage a supervisor who can be in at every da and direct the little faiks in ili t their ller play tho the services of such a will cost money and the kindergarten club is not prepared to supply the funds so committees will make a canvass z the four our wards of tills mis nty city 13 c solicit help from the club makes an earnest abial to tilt alir par abts to receive these ladies kenoly and give thein as gerit ions support ts rs within their in order that our a hild n may inay hai in tile rie picher raie caie while ty y ire enjoy iii the beyl i ey grounds with a supervisor in charge of the grounds and children every day mothers will be relieved of any anxiety r for their children will be safely enclosed within the fenced grounds and the supervisor will bee to it that the play is orderly and systematic and that no trouble of any kind occurs the kindergarten club assumes that there are no parents in this community who do not appreciate the blessing which a public play ground under proper supervision provides but in ease case there are some who do not fully understand the object and activities of this the following reasons are offered play well regulated and supervised Js is one of the first important factors in ili the development of the child every one recognizes how much the physical well being of the child depends upon ills his play man alan is essentially a social creature and it la is in the social game apat that the child meets other children loses sell consciousness tear fear diffidence and becomes a free being under the wise direction of a supervisor children form helpful friendships and are taught how to mingle with other children the ethical value of a supervised playground ranks above all others other tor for hero the child Is taught to bo be fair honest truthful loyal to each otner and to have high ideals of 0 right and wrong brigham city has been very generously complimented on tile work thus far done in providing a public play ground and only last week prof E S hinckley of the state industrial school at the parent teacher meeting which was held in ili the high school congratulated brigham city upon its progressiveness as shown in providing a public play ground and he urged the people to give the project their hearty bearty support now in conclusion we sincerely trust that fathers and mothers will recognize the unselfish interest of the hinder kindergarten garten club in this matter and understand that the play grounds are yours and your children are expected to make use of thern them therefore we bespeak for the ladies who will call upon you in your homes a very cordial reception which will be very substantial in character and we pledge our best efforts to maintain he wounds grounds in the very best possible and conduct the play in a way that will prove a blessing to your selves and your little ones very respectfully THE kindergarten CLUB |
