According to O. J. Wilkinson, Chairman of the State Central Committee, the Utah Republican State Organization meeting will be held April 27 at the Rainbow Randevu. The State Nominating or Primary convention will be held on August 4 at the Rainbow. These dates were confirmed by the State Central Committee this week, he said. Robert Merchant Marine School Calls For Utah Students UTAH youths with a yen for the sea were invited by Rep. William A. Dawson this week to become candidates for appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. There is no reason why some Utahns shouldnt be among the 330 young men who will be selected by competitive examination for the Academy class beginning August, 1956, Congressman Dawson said. Examinations for this class will be held throughout the United States on March 12, 1956. The examination is open to American citizens between the ages of 17 and 21. The applicants must be high school graduates and physically qualified. The Merchant Marine Academy offers a four year course with uniforms, tuition, room and board, books and medical and dental care furnished by the Government, Congressman Dawson course receive explained. Qualified graduates of the four-yelicenses as . U. S. Merchant Marine officers, commissions as Ensigns in the Naval Reserve and Bachelor of Science Degrees. The student is at sea during his sophmore year, Congressman Dawson said, explaining that he is assigned to an oceangoing vessel as a cadet..
