Thurston, a registered medical technologist, was previously employed as a supervisor for several medical and research laboratories in the San Francisco area. Howard E. Butner has been elected treasurer of Northwest Alaskan Pipeline Company. He formerly served as treasurer and acting principal financial officer of Apco Oil Corporation in Houston, Texas, where he was responsible for all domestic and international financial functions of the firm. Prior to joining Apco in 1973, Butner held positions in the corporate treasury and control departments at Texas Instruments Incorporated. II. Thompson, manager of quality assurance for the Bacchus Works, has been named MX deputy program manager by Hercules Inc. Hercules was awarded an Air Force contract for systems definition and an option for development of the third stage of the MX missile last month. Formal dedication ceremonies were held last week for a huge underground natural gas storage facility operated by Mountain Fuel Resources, Inc., a subsidiary of Mountain Fuel Supply Company. Located at Clay Basin in Daggett County, Utah, the facility was formally named the Kastler Station, in honor of B.Z. Kastler, president of Mountain Fuel Resources, Inc. The facility is capable of storing up to 300 million cubic feet per day.
