Show The National Enterprise, April 6. 1977 Page three County will renew plans Plans are still pending for Salt Lake County to monitor mortgage loans and consequently withhold public funds from lenders who appear to be redlining, according to Art Monson, county treasurer. Monson proposed in December that the county extract a pledge from local lending institutions, requiring signers to disclose finance terms of mortgage loans by census tract. According to the plan, the county would withhold its money from those institutions that refused to loan money for houses in high risk areas at conventional terms, a practice called redlining. Monson told the Enterprise last week he expects to renew conversations with Senator Art Kimball this month to discuss plans of implementing the pledge idea. Earlier plans were postponed until after the legislature acted on a proposed bill in the last session.
