Show 2 Top Selected For Second Quarter s y h. h b JANET CHRISTENSEN By c CAMILLE OLSEN This quarter again Manti High School is honoring two top scholars both of the senior senior senior sen sen- class Those selected for this outstanding achievement are Janet Christensen and David David David Da Da- Da- Da vid Cox JANET CHRISTENSEN Janet was born December 26 1943 to Reuel E. E and Vonda Vonda Vonda Von- Von da Henrie Christensen She was raised in Ephraim and attended attended attended at at- tended local schools until grade when she moved with her parents to Fort Wayne Indiana There they presided over the Great Lakes Mission fission of the Church Janet attended school for three years She was an A student student student stu stu- stu- stu dent and participated in several several several sev sev- eral sp speech ech meets winning an oratorical contest on America America America Amer ica when in the eighth grade at Harrison Junior High Since she returned to Utah and entered l lS S she has excelled excelled excelled ex ex- celled in English speech and drama and has been a leader In various school activities She was a delegate to the Model United Nations at the theU U U. of U U. in 1961 and will be again in 1962 She was a delegate delegate delegate dele dele- gate to the State Convention Convention Convention Con Con- in 1961 and will attend attend attend at at- tend as vice president this year Janet has played the lead role in two MRS mS drama productions Last summer Janet went to Girls State and was voted as mayor of Geiger City Following her parents lead t she is a very active Church member and will graduate from Seminary this year Her main hobbies are sewing sewing sewing sew sew- ing reading piano playing H 4 and collecting dolls from foreign lands Snow is the college of her choice after graduation where she will major in education DAVID COX David was born November 15 1943 to Dorothy and Ray P. P Cox of Manti MantL He attended the grade school and the jun inn junior junior for high in Mantic Manti When he entered MRS he had developed a growing interest interest interest in in- terest in science and a love for mechanical tools The farm afforded good opportunity to develop this trait Mathematics and sciences are his major subjects in school Coupled with study has come many opportunities to serve on committees for decorations decorations decorations dec dec- orations and the activities He headed the Jr Prom committee in 1961 and was also chairman of the Senior Senior Senior Sen Sen- Ball in 1962 During his junior year he took part in a one act play that won first place in in region competition and merited a showing in the state meet at BYU Last summer he was selected select select- ed as delegate to Boys' Boys State in Logan Davids David's hobbies are actually work He spends his summers summerson on the farm Aside from farm duties he has built a chopped hay elevator and repairs and rewinds electric motors David's Davids Davids David's Davids David's Da Da- Da- Da vid's next project in farm mechanics mechanics me me- class is to build a hay wagon David has a high scholastic average and is a dependable ILs IL- IL r t v R s w i 7 Yr N r z Vt V t t. t J t i DAVID COX well liked student at MRS After graduation this May David plans to attend Snow College and later the tomajor tomajor to tomajor major in agriculture MRS is most proud to be represented by these two fine Top |
