Show Page 3b The Enterprise Review , August 11, 1976 Bank News Incorporations on the Increase New Branch for Highland Drive Three Salt Lake men have applied for permission to establish a new unit state bank at Highland Drive (20th East) and Fort Union Boulevard (7000 South), Salt Lake County. To be known as Brighton State Bank, the full service bank, would compete with nearby branch banks of Walker Bank and Trust, Zions First National Bank and Continental Bank and Trust. According to Richard C. Landerman, attorney for the proponents, the location has been approved for a First Security Bank branch, but First Security never built there. The three proponents are Clealon B. Mann, president of Heritage Management Corporation, J. Merrill Funk, president of Trendsetter Homes and Bob Ray Norton, president of Alumasteel Corporation. Funk and Mann are also directors of Ensign Development Corporation. Landerman said the bank would be capitalized by offering stock to up to nine irisiders, and to residents of the service area. The market study indicates the area has grown from a population of 21,815, in 1970 to 35,273 in 1974, to 38,738 in 1976.
