During the coming months, as 1975 figures come in, a substantial number of companies may be asked by insurance departments to cease doing business. Also contributing to the industry's current dilemma has been the tendency to view insurance as a cash flow Therefore, the future tends to indicate higher insurance premiums through rate increases and difficulty in obtaining certain types of coverage because of the abandoning of classes of business by insurance carriers or the withdrawal of insurance companies from our state, thus forcing the insured to turn toward the surplus lines market and the specialty markets for placements on an excess and surplus or consent to rate basis.
